Our Epoxy Flooring Installation Process

Most epoxy floor problems don’t come from the coating itself — they come from skipped prep. Here’s exactly how we take a concrete slab from bare and problem-prone to a coated floor built to hold up in San Angelo conditions. Curious how San Angelo’s clay soil factors in? See why floors fail here for the full picture.
Step 1 — Free On-Site Estimate & Moisture Testing
Before anything gets scheduled, we come look at your slab in person. We check for existing damage, moisture levels, and prior coatings or sealers that might affect adhesion. This is also when we walk through pricing and timeline based on your specific space.
Step 2 — Diamond Grinding & Surface Preparation
We mechanically grind the concrete surface with diamond tooling to open the pores of the slab and remove any existing sealers, oil stains, or laitance. This step is what most shortcut installers skip — and it’s the single biggest reason DIY or budget coatings peel within a year or two.
Step 3 — Crack & Joint Repair
Cracks, pits, and control joints get filled and leveled before coating. San Angelo’s clay soil shifts with moisture swings, so we address existing cracking rather than coating over it and hoping it holds.
Step 4 — Primer & Base Coat Application
A primer coat locks onto the freshly-ground concrete and gives the epoxy base coat something solid to bond to. This step is timed around temperature and humidity — see our seasonal installation guide for how West Texas weather affects scheduling.
Step 5 — Decorative Flake or Color Layer
If you’ve chosen a flake or color-quartz system, this is where it goes down — broadcast into the wet base coat for texture, slip resistance, and a finished look that also hides minor surface imperfections.
Step 6 — Top Coat & Cure Time
A clear top coat seals and protects the system, adding chemical and abrasion resistance. Cure time depends on the product and conditions — we’ll give you a specific timeline for light foot traffic versus full vehicle or equipment use before we finish up.
What to Expect: Timeline & Downtime
Most garage floors are workable in a matter of days; larger residential, commercial, or industrial spaces take longer depending on square footage and prep needs. We’ll give you a realistic day-by-day timeline during your estimate — not a generic promise. Questions about scheduling or weather delays are covered on our policies page.
